Prepare Your Cat and Your Supplies
The first step in trimming your cat's nails is to make sure you have the right supplies. You'll need a pair of nail clippers specifically made for cats, cat treats, and a soft cloth. It's also important to make sure your cat is comfortable and relaxed before you begin. Give your kitty some treats and use gentle strokes to help them relax and be comfortable with you.
Locate the Quick
The next step is to locate the quick. The quick is a vein that runs through the nail and supplies it with blood. If you cut too close to the quick, it can be painful and cause your cat to bleed. To avoid this, look closely at the nail and try to locate the quick. The quick is usually easy to see in cats with light-colored nails, but can be hard to find in cats with dark-colored nails.
Cut the Nail
